Abstract

Sternbergia (Karanergis) cinsi, soğanlı, genellikle sarı çiçekli ve sonbahar ya da ilkbaharda çiçek açan otsu bitkilerden oluşur. Türler Güney ve Orta Avrupa’dan Batı Asya ve Kuzeybatı Afrika’ya kadar yayılış gösterir. Dünya genelinde 6 türü bulunan bu cinsin tamamı Türkiye’de doğal olarak yetişmekte olup, biri endemiktir; bu durum Türkiye’yi cinsin gen merkezi haline getirir.
